Recap of 2010 Resolutions
- I won't really give you specifics about whether or not I prayed regularly, studied the scriptures consistently or attended the temple frequently; but just know that I tried and can still improve. So, for 2011, I'm keep those as goals as well. And like last year, there are specifics associated with the three goals, but I don't feel it's really that appropriate to explain them to you all.
- I did not index 1000 names on Family Search. I was about to write the number of names I did index, but sadly, I can't even open my program to get that number.... it may have something to do with a recent OS upgrade, but more possibly, the church's new website. Or maybe something entirely different. Anyway, I think that number was around 300, so I was sadly way under my goal. I had plenty of time to check Facebook updates, however.
- I did exercise 500 miles! Success! Okay, so it was a low goal, easily achievable, but still... I did it. And if I were still tracking Virtual Route miles, I would be somewhere in Mexico by now. Muy bien!
- I did not do 50 push-ups a day by the end of the year. I got to 20-30 push-ups at a time, but I did not do it daily, and then I gave up all together. I think it was a good idea, though. So perhaps this goal will resurface another year.
- I did fairly well about inviting people over at least twice a month, so I wouldn't be so hermit-like. I could look on my calendar and give you exact instances, but that's not necessary. I didn't tell you last year, but I wanted one of the times each month to be more date-like. I think I did fairly well with that. I tried for a dating-blitz the week after Thanksgiving and it actually worked out really well! The outcome from that decision made for a very enjoyable holiday season and I now have a great friend who is an important part of my life.
- I did not fill up my sketchbook at all... but I did sketch more than I would have had I not even tried. So, yeah... I still think it's a success. Plus, I went to Switzerland with a Graphic Design program and did a sketch or two there, and so that helped a little.
- And Switzerland was awesome.
- As for my life-time goal of visiting all of the US National Parks, I went to two: Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. It was a very fun adventure. I need to start planning the next.
Goals for 2011
- Remember to write 2011 instead of 2010 on checks. Ha! - only joking. I just forgot today, but who doesn't? I'll give myself a break.
- I will train for the Ogden Half-Marathon, the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay, and the Epic Cache-Teton Relay. My training includes running three days per/week (long runs on Saturdays).
- I am going to do everything in my 365 jar. That means nothing to you, so let me explain. I came up with several things from quick to time-consuming that I could do that would help me be a better designer. From sketching things to taking walks, from perusing bookstores to taking naps. There are lots of ideas, and I don't even remember them all now. Anyway, I've already done about 10 or so, but I got lazy, so this year I'm going to do the rest. It was intended that I do one/day, but I think I may just go in spurts as I make time for it.
- Now, this last one is actually two... less time reading e-mail/Facebook and more time reading books. So I will be checking my e-mail once/day and reading blogs once/week. There will probably be exceptions, but they will be few and far between. When I get the urge to check, as will happen often, since I am addicted, I will pick up a book instead. I don't have a specific list of books I want to read for this year, but I do have over 100 on my Goodreads site (that helps me keep track of what I want to read).
What are your goals? Are they New Year's Resolutions or something you made previous and on-going? Really... I'd like to know.
Hi Sarah!
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to use my camera!! (Arghhh!!!!!)
Will you email me the things in your 365 jar if it's convenient? Thanks.
I think you have accomplished so many great things! Keep it up in 2011.
:)
I haven't even thought about any goals for this year. There was just too much going on in December to think about it.
ReplyDeleteYour goals sound great. And your 365 jar is an interesting idea that could be adapted for a lot of people/situations. I might have to steal it... ;)
I could also use less time on email and facebook and more time reading, as I have a stack to get through. And the stack just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
I think I will read. However, peoples lives interest me more....so thus I think I will read your blog all year!
ReplyDelete:)
Wow! I'm muy impressed by your reading goal. Very specific. I think I need something like that myself, instead of my current "facebook less, books more" idea that has gotten me nowhere!
ReplyDeleteI think you are on to something with this reading goal. I might have to copy you. And, we can discuss our successes while we go running (which will be part of one of your other resolutions) together!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I like the newest fortune cookie. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found a friend. I'm glad I did too. :)
ReplyDeletetesting...I think my comments might work this time since its showing my name, but we'll see....
ReplyDeleteyay! You are so much better than me at making and keeping goals! I never even think to make them; my goal should be to make goals!
ReplyDeleteI never work on a sketchbook..though I did recently purchase a more sketchbook-like journal so I'd be more likely to do so.
I did get back into reading this year, which I hadn't done much of in years previous; goodreads helped me stay focused on that also.
I've always been horrible at excercise, but it is one area I have the hardest time being motivated! I don't think I can even do two sit-ups, seriously. And running? Bleah...I need a better attitude!
So yeah, I think you've done really well!
Yay for new goals! I love your goals and wish you the best in accomplishing them. I am so behind in my blogging that I haven't even had time to think about what my goals will be. Maybe I'll make a goal to have my new goals made by the end of this week. :)
