Gabe smoked the turkey this year. It had a very delicious flavor! (And it wasn't as dry as he thought it was.)

The Thursday before Memorial Day, my friend Katy and I headed to South Dakota to see Wind Cave and Badlands Nationals Parks, as part of my National Parks Tour (view the first NPT report here). 
On our way out of Utah, we stopped at Bear Lake, 

and picked up a famous raspberry shake (although, since it's not raspberry season, these shakes were made from frozen raspberries).

I started the day out by running 7 miles. I'm training for a few races this year. It wasn't a very warm day, but I didn't feel cold after I was out and about (especially, because I had the head warmer that Jenny gave me for Christmas). I was so happy to run outside!

For most of the day we gathered in groups, brainstormed ideas, and designed concepts for lockers... that we planned to show to a representative of a furniture company a couple weeks later. Essentially, the cattle owners gather together to watch the cows in their herds battle for who will become the next queen. Apparently, unlike bulls, the cows don't forget movement as quickly (holding a grudge longer?) and continue to pick fights with each other. Question: Can you tell a difference; is it warmer?
Answer: We hit a cold snap right after they went in, so it was just cold no matter what. Plus, I don't really keep my heat up very high, so... I'm cold anyway! But, yes, I think it made a difference. A few weeks ago my garbage disposal died. I heard the motor struggle and quit. The switch no longer worked. The garbage disposal was dead. However, I didn't know why... but I was too wrapped up with finishing my semester and enjoying my holiday break to take the time to look into it.

I tried a few vegetables last year, but I learned that I planted them in the wrong place (the backyard). I decided this year to plant a few in the front yard (south-facing) to see if they would live. I transplanted the tulips and whatever flowers were in the front to the backyard (as well as put in irises that were given to me).
